Dr. Marlin Wilson Dr. TCM, R.Ac , graduated from the Victoria ICTCM, (International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine) in 1997 with the DTCM degree (Doctor of Chinese Medicine). In the year 2001 the BC government passed legislation to legalize acupuncture and Dr. Wilson was in the first group of practitioners to receive a license. At that time he was designated as a registered acupuncturist (R.Ac). In the year 2003 the BC government brought in new legislation to legalize TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).Dr. Marlin Wilson is a registered acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor, who opened Wilson Acupuncture in 1997.Dr. Wilson’s methodology is guided by his desire to help people heal using humor, music, compassion, and solid health concepts. The central theory of TCM is the yin-yang theory: the concept of two opposing, yet complementary forces that shape the world and all life.In the Traditional Chinese Medicine view, the vital energy or life force is called Qi. Qi regulates and energizes the individual’s spiritual, emotional and physical health, which are influenced by the opposing forces of yin and yang. Qi circulates throughout the body via a system of pathways called meridians. Health is an ongoing process that requires maintaining the balance and harmony in the circulation of Qi.TCM also uses the theory of five elements: fire, earth, metal, water, and wood to explain how the body works. These elements correspond to particular organs and tissues in the body.Again, Dr. Wilson was in the first group of people to receive a Doctor’s degree (TCM) and thereby expand the scope of his practice. He is licenced to practice the following: Acupuncture: Inserting acupuncture needles into stimulation points called acupuncture points, or acupoints to promote health. Herbology: Assisting the healing process through the use of Herbal Therapy. Herbal medicine is a major part of Chinese medicine. There are about 600 different herbs in common use today. Food Cures: The use of the properties of food to cure disease. Tui Na Massage: Chinese therapeutic massage. Dr. Wilson has run a successful TCM practice in Victoria since 1997.
